In 2011 Earth Hour was held at 8.30pm on March 26. It started in Australia 2007 and now more than 120 countries celebrate the event. All countries turn off all the lights and unessential electronics for one hour. Just imagine, how much energy can be saved in this hour!! Actually, I didn't know anything about Earth Hour until today but for sure next year I will share this time for our Earth.

Harmony Day
Harmony day began in 1999 and it's held on 21 March. Since Australia is a multicultural society, there are over 260 languages are spoken in Australia. Harmony Day is a chance for everyone to come together and join local activities to share the things we have in common as action, arts, fashion or food.
Harmony Day follows the theme Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of the country, regardless of their background.

Christmas
Christmas means laughing and spending time with family and friends, but the most important of all is celebrating the birth of Christ.
People at Christmas decorate their houses and you find a Christmas tree in every house, and children can't wait for their presents from Santa. Santa Claus is known all over the world as a fat man wearing a red suit. On Christmas Eve he enters the house of good children to give them gifts and toys.
The whole family gathers together for lunch at Christmas, and the meal consists of roast turkey ,barbecued meat ,Christmas cake and sweets. The family has fun, laughs, and exchanges gifts between each other.
In my country we visit friends on Christmas morning. At lunch the family usually gathers at the grandparents or the eldest son's home.

2011 plans??
I can't believe too that there is still just 2 weeks left for this semester. I had great days with everyone in the class. I want to thank Marion for everything she is really a great teacher and a friend too.
Of course everyone of us has his/her own plans for the next year, and I hope you will achieve all your goals. For me, I haven't finished level four yet, so for the next year I'm planing to continue my hours and finish my class. I hate staying at home all the time. I'd like to find a job so I can practice my English more.

Halloween
Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. People celebrate in different ways, for example tricks, parties ,and children collect lollies from door to door. But what is Halloween? Where did it originate?
TheOrigin of the name Halloween comes from '' All Hallows' Eve”. From more than 2000 years ago, people in Europe used to celebrate at this time. It was considered all over the years a magical time when the ghosts of the dead walked the earth.
Halloween is mostly celebrated in Europe and USA. Also Halloween is not well known in many countries, as in my country Lebanon. We consider the first of April the day everyone makes lies, jokes, and plays tricks.
